Pete Lindsey, Director of Business Development

Pete has over thirty years of experience in higher education, twenty-two years with private colleges and over nine years in the North Carolina public university system. Prior to joining the SEM WORKS team, he served as director of the Evening University at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, managing fifty-seven evening programs and serving an enrollment of over 5,300 evening students, both undergraduate and graduate. He was responsible for recruitment, retention, program development, and marketing for all on-campus evening degree and certificate programs. While at UNCG, Pete also served as director of undergraduate admissions where he managed a staff of thirty-four professionals.
Pete has also developed a deep understanding of the needs and concerns of private four-year colleges and community colleges. At St. John Fisher College, he was director of undergraduate admissions for six years before being promoted to dean of admissions and financial aid for another six years. He was instrumental in developing the College's financial aid leveraging system as well as undergraduate admissions publications that received twelve national awards. Prior to arriving at St. John Fisher College, he was associate director of admissions and transfer counselor at LeMoyne College, and assistant director of admissions and transfer counselor at St. Bonaventure University.
Lindsey has been an active member of AACRAO, NACAC, and most recently has served on the Board of the North Carolina Adult Education Association. He has authored articles on Total Quality Management for Recruitment & Retention in Higher Education and TQM in Higher Education as well as a chapter, "Needs and Expectations of Gen Xers," for Generation X Returns to College. Lindsey presented "The Role of Admissions in Strategic Enrollment Management" at the 1998 Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Conference. He holds an undergraduate degree in business administration, B.B.A., with a social science concentration.
His current responsibilities as director of business development include, writing SEM WORKS’ business proposals, identification of new business opportunities, and providing service to prospective clients during the selling process.
Ginger Marr, Conference Director

Ginger Marr has fourteen years experience in higher education. Prior to joining the SEM WORKS team, she served as associate director of admissions at Winthrop University. During her tenure at Winthrop, she directed all marketing and advertising efforts, planned and supervised recruitment events and visitation programs, coordinated and supervised alumni and student volunteer programs, created and implemented recruitment plans, directed mail and electronic communication plans, and supervised the counseling staff, among other duties. She has been an active participant in CACRAO, AACRAO's regional organization for North Carolina and South Carolina. She has been involved with local arrangements work with both CACRAO and AACRAO and has coordinated statewide event planning for numerous committees. In December 2005, she was awarded Lifetime Honorary Membership in CACRAO.
Marr earned both her bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees in history from Winthrop University. Currently, she serves as an adjunct faculty member at Winthrop. She is a past presenter at the SEM WORKS Admissions Counselor Boot Camp for new admissions professionals.
Her current responsibilities as conference director include strategic planning and implementation of all conference programs, marketing, coordinating all conference logistics, communicating with participants and faculty, and conducting conference follow up and evaluations.
Kara Mohre, Director of Marketing and Project Manager

Kara has ten years experience in higher education. Mohre served as associate manager for student marketing and communication at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro for four years. Prior, she has held a variety of positions including college admissions administrator, student orientation coordinator, enrollment and recruitment specialist, and as an adjunct professor at Gardner-Webb University.
Mohre earned a master of education from the University of Virginia and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Averett University. Among her contributions to the profession, Mohre authored a chapter in Gen Xers Return to College: Enrollment Strategies for a Maturing Generation, and in First Things First: Your Transition to UNCG, a guide for freshmen transitioning to college.
As the director of marketing, her areas of responsibility include an array of marketing initiatives, such as writing copy, overseeing product creation, quality assurance and final delivery. In her role as project manager, Kara serves as a liaison between the client and the assigned SEM WORKS consultants. She interacts frequently with clients to establish project time lines, convey information, monitor the status of project activities and deadlines, and respond to client needs.
John Becker, Director of Market Research

For several years, John Becker leads the higher education market research enterprise in our suite of offerings that enables institutions to learn about their competitive position. Prior to joining the SEM WORKS team, John worked in senior marketing positions at several companies including NCR, Mead Corporation, Technitrol, and Oberg Industries. He spearheaded market research projects at these companies, including numerous surveys, new product research, focus groups, demographic analysis, and others. He also managed several multimillion-dollar product lines, including product development, pricing, distribution, and promotion activities.
John Becker's educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and a master of international management degree from The American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona.
Sam Newnam, Web Site Design and Technology Consulting
Sam has over ten years of experience in network administration, Web design, application programming, database administration, and business process efficiency consulting. Having developed solutions over the years for businesses in a broad range of industries, Sam brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to complex projects when creating solutions that work for his clients.
Before joining the SEM WORKS team, Sam spent a number of years as the MidSouth IT director for one of the world’s largest nonprofits. During those years, Sam gained a wealth of knowledge of technical issues including desktop support, Web presence, operational planning, volunteer coordination, and audio-visual components of large presentations and conferences.
Sam has an extensive background in networking and data center management by virtue of his experience with Time Warner Telecom and other national carriers. He has been interviewed for a number of articles related to open source technologies and the integration of those technologies into the small and medium business arena.
Sam currently leads a team of Web designers, programmers, and technicians who are known to produce stunning results. Having a superior working knowledge of W3C standards, accessibility practices, and sound coding regiments, his team creates Web sites and user interfaces that are rich in information and aesthetically appealing. Sam and his team have a passion for delivering beyond expectation and striving to meet the most demanding needs.
Sam holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and a B.S. in computer engineering from North Carolina State University.
