Dr. Jim Black – President and CEO of SEM Works

Dr. Black has delivered keynote addresses and conducted training workshops for business leaders and educators worldwide. His areas of expertise include leadership, organizational change, customer service, strategic enrollment management, marketing, recruitment, and retention. He has served as a consultant for more than 300 colleges and universities, as well as companies such as Microsoft, Blackboard, and SAS. He is the 2005 recipient of the AACRAO Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. Black has published four books: Navigating Change in the New Millennium: Strategies for Enrollment Leaders, The Strategic Enrollment Management Revolution—considered to be a groundbreaking publication for the enrollment management profession—GEN Xers Return to College: Enrollment Strategies for a Maturing Population, and Essentials of Enrollment Management: Cases in the Field. He has also written numerous book chapters and articles including articles as a feature writer for The Greentree Gazette.
Jim Black earned a bachelor of arts in English education and a master of education in higher education student personnel services with a cognate in counseling from the University of South Carolina. He holds a Ph.D. degree in higher education curriculum and teaching with a concentration in business administration from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Lynda Wallace-Hulecki, Ed.D., Vice-President of Strategy and Senior Consultant

Dr. Lynda Wallace-Hulecki is the vice-president for strategy and senior consultant at SEM Works. Her higher education career spans more than thirty-five years within both the university and college sectors in Canada. She has extensive leadership experience and an impressive record of accomplishments in bringing about campus-wide strategic enrolment success, an integrated approach to academic and enrolment planning, and transformative change in policies, systems and practices. For twenty-three years of her career, Wallace-Hulecki directed an institutional analysis and planning office ─ a position for which she was awarded a distinguished administrator award.
Dr. Wallace-Hulecki has served on both federal and provincial committees related to inter-provincial student mobility and higher education accountability in Canada. Wallace-Hulecki has been an active member of numerous professional organizations (e.g., AACRAO, ARUCC, NASPA, AIR, SCUP, EDUCAUSE) as a presenter and a presentation reviewer. She has written numerous white papers on the application of SEM theory in practice, and recently authored two chapters in Strategic Enrolment Intelligence, Canada's first book on enrolment management.
Lynda earned a B.Sc. in the mathematical sciences from the University of Manitoba, as well as an M.Ed. in higher education administration– student affairs, and an Ed.D. in leadership and higher education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has participated in Harvard's Institute for Management and Leadership in Education (MLE), as well as the world-class Chair Academy for college and university leaders. Lynda's graduate research focused on the evolving field of strategic enrolment management, and on the application of learned concepts in leading change, in building organizational capacity for enrolment performance measurement, and in building shared responsibility for enrolment outcomes with the campus community through an integrated approach to academic and enrolment planning.
Kara Mohre, Director of Marketing and Communications

Kara Mohre is the director of marketing and communication at SEM Works. She has more than eleven years experience within the university, college and community college sectors. Her management experience includes implementing and managing enrollment marketing and communication plans, developing promotional materials for admissions and academic departments, event planning and marketing, and student recruitment and retention practices. For four years of her career, Mohre served as the associate manager for student marketing and communication for enrollment services at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a position in which she was nominated for and participated in the Enrollment Services Leadership Institute.
Mrs. Mohre has been an active member of numerous professional organizations (e.g., ACPA, CACRAO, VASPA, ACA) and VACRAO as a presenter, and currently serves as an executive board member for Averett University's Alumni Association. Among her contributions to the profession, Mohre authored a chapter in Gen Xers Return to College: Enrollment Strategies for a Maturing Generation, and in First Things First: Your Transition to UNCG, a guide for freshmen transitioning to college. Mohre earned a master of education in counseling and higher education administration from the University of Virginia and a bachelor of business administration from Averett University. In addition, she has continued her graduate studies and research in the field of curriculum and instruction within higher education, and has previously served as adjunct faculty for Gardner-Webb University.
Her areas of responsibility include an array of marketing initiatives for the company and our clients, such as providing effective communication solutions, overseeing product creation, quality and delivery, and ensuring that all SEM Works client's needs are met. Since joining SEM Works, Mohre has successfully led marketing and design efforts at Fayetteville State University, Arkansas State University, Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, Fort Lewis College, Southern New Hampshire University, Eastern Iowa Community College, Quinsigamond Community College, North Shore Community College, and Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
David Rivera, Director of Creative Services

Before Joining SEM Works as Director of Creative Services, Mr. Rivera accumulated seven years of experience developing highly interactive Web sites. For the last three and half years David has specialized in Web site development for The University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Division of Continual Learning online courses, which will soon become the University's online hub. David's creative work on the Web site and collaboration with the marketing team has resulted in a silver award for the Division's iSchool. Prior to working with online courses, David was UNCG's Web Manager with responsibility for ensuring that the University's Web site code and design were up to date and compliant with government requirements.
Unlike traditional Web designers and coders who specialize in one field or the other, David possesses both talents and is an advocate for open source technology and clean and simple designs. Currently, David focuses his techniques around current Web 2.0 Web standards and trends—making use of technologies like JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, XML, and XHTML.
David also possesses multimedia skills for Web and/or DVD delivery. From video editing to post production via Final Cut Studio, Motion, and Flash, David is highly skilled at incorporating multimedia into his sites for richer user experiences.
Although David's primary experience has been in higher education, he also has background in the construction, entertainment, and tourism industries. Recently, he revised and updated the award winning Our State magazine Web site and will soon implement social media components to enrich the site's ability to influence and communicate with their subscribers.
Arnie Clark, Communications Project Manager

Arnie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Victoria and certification in Effective Workplace Supervision, Coaching for Success, Change Management, and Conflict Resolution.
With over ten years of experience working in post-secondary, Arnie brings with him a diverse skill set and expertise in Canadian, US, and international recruitment, admissions, and articulation. He is dedicated to delivering an exemplary student experience tempered with sound policy interpretation that promotes academic integrity, accessibility, and engagement.
Arnie is collaborative in his approach to facilitating and maintaining client relationships and in engaging creative solutions to ensure student and institutional success. Arnie has been involved in the planning, testing, and implementation of a number of admissions and enrollment initiatives and he prides himself on his attention to detail and his ability to bridge the divide between the technical and the functional.
