SEM Works' Strategic Partnership Will Bring Insightful Higher Ed Consumer Research to Clients

Greensboro, NC (Oct. 1, 2009) – SEM Works, a world leader in strategic enrollment management for colleges and universities, announced an international partnership that will bring an outstanding level of higher education consumer research expertise to clients. The consulting firm based in Greensboro, North Carolina, has partnered with Academica Group Inc, Canada's leading provider of higher education consumer research and recruitment marketing innovation.

SEM Works President and CEO Dr. Jim Black is excited about what the partnership will mean for his clients, especially given the importance of basing strategic enrollment decisions on sound research data. "This alliance enhances the service offerings of both companies, in Canada and the United States. In particular, Academica Group's UCAS™ and ADS™ surveys provide a solid foundation for targeted strategies that will produce meaningful enrollment results."

Academica Group signed the formal strategic alliance with SEM Works to add to its offerings of relevant research data and technological innovation to the Canadian and US markets. Now, in addition to comprehensive market research, recruitment strategy, web technology and social media consulting services, US and Canadian institutions will have greater access to SEM Works' expertise in a full spectrum of marketing, recruitment, admissions, retention, and enrollment management consulting services.

Rod Skinkle, president and CEO of Academica Group, emphasizes the compatibility of the two companies' approaches. "Jim Black and his team are pioneers in the development of SEM science, the way we [Academica] are pioneers in recruitment, research and technology. Our mutual respect for data-driven decision-making, innovation, and a complete commitment to our clients' best interests make our corporate cultures a natural fit."

Dr. Jim Black has authored 3 books and numerous papers on enrollment management, and is an undisputed SEM thought leader. Since the firm's founding in 2004, SEM Works has partnered with more than 300 institutions across North America, developing a unique niche in helping transform enrollment outcomes for colleges and universities. The alliance will not only offer research innovation for his American clients, but will also further strengthen his position as a vital partner to Canadian institutions.

In addition to the partnership with Academica, SEM Works announced a new office location in Greensboro at the nationally recognized, historic textile mill now known as Revolution Mill Studios. This unique office environment and tenant community, which includes more than fifty resident businesses across 600,000 square feet, uses a studio approach to office design. The SEM Works team enjoys the warmth of antique maple floors and massive heart pine columns, soaring 15-foot ceilings and large windows overlooking beautifully landscaped courtyards. The vibrant, work campus environment at Revolution Mill also serves to make the surrounding area an economic center for the neighborhood.
